Job summary

Integrated Power Services (IPS) is seeking a Generator Technician to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and on-call emergency service on standby generators. Travel in local counties is required in a company service vehicle, with the ability to replace batteries, belts, hoses, filters, and tune-up engines.

Responsibilities include repairing various generator brands, conducting inspections and load bank tests, and writing clear service reports.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED and 3+ years’ experience in repair/maintenance of generator systems (8kW–2800 kW).
• Graduation from a technical school in generators, diesel, power gen, electric power, relay or substation tech is preferred.
• Ability to perform high-quality work timely and efficiently.
• Strong communication, enthusiastic attitude, and customer service focus are required.
• Satisfactory driving record with ability to obtain DOT medical certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and services on all makes and models of generator sets.
• Inspections, repairs, services, and start-up load bank test requirements on equipment.
• Troubleshooting equipment and servicing generator components including alternators, wiring harnesses, safety devices, and battery systems.
• Apply engine technical skills in inspection, disassembly, failure analysis, assembly, and performance tests.
• Identify problems and root causes through troubleshooting and inspection of parts.
