Job summary

Integrated Power Services (IPS) seeks a Generator Field Service Technician to service, repair, and maintain diesel and gas engine-driven standby generators in the field, supporting residential, commercial, and industrial clients to keep power on.

The role involves preventative maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation, with company vehicle travel across local counties. IPS offers extensive training and growth opportunities within a safety-focused team.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a technical school with generator/diesel/power gen focus is preferred.
• Some experience in repair or maintenance of generators is desired or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Mechanical aptitude can substitute for formal generator training.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; ability to obtain DOT medical certification.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Preventative maintenance: scheduled oil and filter changes, spark plug inspection, coolant checks and filter changes.
• Inspections: visual checks of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Cleaning: oil, fuel, air filters, cooling system, and exterior of units.
• Testing: load bank, ATS, and functional testing.
• Diagnosis and troubleshooting: alternators, wiring, switches, control panels, and battery systems.
• Documentation: complete reports on work performed.
• Travel in local counties in company service vehicle; maintain vehicle inventory and safety.
