Job summary

Integrated Power Services (IPS) is seeking a Generator Field Service Technician to service, repair, and maintain diesel and gas engine-driven standby generators for residential, commercial, and industrial clients across our service area.

You will perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning; travel in a company vehicle; and communicate clearly with customers while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• Technical school in generators, diesel, or power systems preferred.
• Some experience in repair or maintenance of generators preferred.
• Ability to read schematics, manuals, and safety guidelines.
• Must have at least 3 years of driving with a valid license.
• Must maintain a satisfactory driving record and DOT medical certification.
• Ability to work after hours and on-call as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance: oil, filters, and routine servicing.
• Conduct inspections of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Clean and service units: filters, coolant, and exterior.
• Test load banks, ATS, and functional tests on gensets.
• Troubleshoot alternators, wiring, switches, and battery systems.
• Assist commissioning: review designs, test, and configure control panels.
• Provide clear customer communication and complete service reports.
