Job summary

Integrated Power Services (IPS) is seeking a Generator Field Service Technician to service, repair, and maintain diesel and gas generator systems in the field. The role supports residential, commercial, and industrial clients to keep power on.

Ideal candidates have technical schooling or equivalent generator experience, strong communication skills, and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Willingness to travel locally and work after hours is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a technical school is desired to include generators, diesel, power gen, electric power, relay, or substation technology.
• Some experience in repair or maintenance of generators preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Mechanical aptitude will work instead of technical school and generator experience.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Must have at least 3 years of experience operating a vehicle with a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
• Must have a satisfactory driving record with the ability to obtain a DOT medical certification.
• Ability to service clients after hours and on-call as needed.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, operating manuals, and safety guidelines.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Preventative maintenance: oil & filter changes, spark plugs, coolant checks, and filters.
• Inspections: visual checks on mechanical and electrical systems.
• Cleaning: oil, fuel, and air filters; cooling system and unit exterior.
• Testing: load bank, ATS, and functional testing.
• Troubleshooting: alternators, wiring, switches, switchgear, battery systems, engine.
• Diagnosis: failure analysis and use of multimeter and other meters.
• Commissioning & Start Ups: design review, testing, switchgear, and control panel programming.
• Customer communication: explain issues & resolutions clearly to clients.
• Documentation: complete reports on performed work.
• Operate a company vehicle and maintain inventory and safety checks.
