Job summary

Integrated Power Services (IPS) is seeking a Generator Field Service Technician to service, repair, and maintain diesel and gas engine-driven standby generators in the field across local counties. You will perform preventative maintenance, inspections, testing, and troubleshooting to keep residential, commercial, and industrial customers powered reliably.

The role requires travel in company service vehicles, strong communication with customers, and the ability to read schematics and operate

Qualifications

• Graduation from a Technical school in generators, diesel, power gen or related tech is preferred.
• Some experience in repair or maintenance of generators is preferred, or an equivalent education/experience combo.
• Mechanical aptitude can substitute for formal generator training.
• Strong communication and customer service skills required.
• Must have at least 3 years of experience driving with a valid, unrestricted license and a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide service, repair, and maintenance for diesel and gas engine-driven standby generators in the field.
• Perform preventative maintenance: oil/filter changes, spark plugs, coolant checks, filter changes.
• Inspect mechanical and electrical systems visually and via testing.
• Perform cleaning of oil, fuel, air filters and cooling system surfaces.
• Troubleshoot components (alternators, wiring, switches, switchgear, batteries).
• Commission start-ups: test programs, switchgear, control panels, networking.
