Job summary

Red Seal Recruiting Ltd. seeks a General Manager to lead our HVAC/plumbing division, owning operations and profitability while scaling revenue. The role encompasses P&L ownership, field leadership, dispatch, and strategic growth initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate drives efficiency, mentors licensed plumbers, and builds strong client relationships. A flexible schedule and weekend availability may be required to meet business goals.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of experience in managing projects in construction; or bachelor’s degree in construction science or related fields; or an equivalent certification combined with experience, and education preferred.
• Extensive knowledge and work experience in the trade of HVAC and general construction.
• California Driver License, with clean DMV record.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• Strong typing skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel software programs.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Uses independent judgment and discretion in prioritizing and managing situations.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, overtime and weekends as required.
• Familiarity with computers and software programs for job costing, scheduling, and estimating.
• Ability to be flexible, decisive, and work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
• Coordinate several major activities at once, while analyzing and resolving specific problems.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with many different people inside and outside of the company.

Responsibilities

• P&L Ownership: Manage the division's budget, track labor and material costs, and implement strategic pricing models to hit gross profit targets.
• Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor licensed plumbers, apprentices, and office staff.
• Operational Excellence: Oversee daily dispatching, scheduling, and job workflows to maximize efficiency.
• Business Growth: Develop and execute sales strategies to expand commercial maintenance contracts and market share.
• Customer Relations: Escalate inquiries and disputes to maintain an exceptional brand reputation.
