Job summary

The Recruiting Hive in California seeks a General Manager to lead the HVAC/plumbing division, owning operational and financial success. You will manage the full lifecycle of the plumbing department—from field technicians to P&L management, safety compliance, and growth initiatives.

Responsibilities include budgeting, dispatch optimization, team leadership, and expanding commercial and residential offerings.

Qualifications

Three to five years of experience in managing projects in construction; or bachelor’s degree in construction science or related fields; or an equivalent certification combined with experience, and education preferred.
Extensive knowledge and work experience in HVAC and general construction.
California Driver License, with clean DMV record
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong organizational and administrative skills
Willing to work flexible schedule, overtime and weekends as required
Familiarity with job costing, scheduling, and estimating

Responsibilities

P&L Ownership: Manage budget, track costs, and set pricing to hit gross margin targets.
Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor plumbers, apprentices, and office staff.
Operational Excellence: Oversee dispatching, scheduling, and job workflows to maximize efficiency.
Business Growth: Develop sales strategies to expand contracts and market share.
Customer Relations: Act as final escalation point for inquiries and disputes.
