Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools is seeking a paraeducator to support students with disabilities in the functional life skills program. You will work under a certificated teacher to implement instructional and non-instructional activities, assist with health care needs, and help maintain a safe learning environment.

The role involves collaboration with staff, preparation of materials, and direct student support including personal care and basic medical tasks as prescribed by nursing staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• AA degree or 48 college-level credits or 72 college-level credits, OR pass the paraeducator assessment test.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with meeting IEP goals/objectives and keep accurate records.
• Prepare classroom and materials as directed.
• Keep facilities clean and safe.
• Assist students with personal care (washing, diapering, toileting, etc.).
• Assist with medical procedures as directed by a registered nurse (medication administration, catheterization, suctioning, tube feeding).
• Lift and position medically fragile students safely.
• Support behavior plans and manage students with behavioral needs.
• Supervise and assist students during meals, recess, Adaptive PE, music, library, and possibly in classrooms or community settings.
• Assist students with boarding/de-boarding buses.
