Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools seeks a paraeducator to support students in the functional core program (FCP) under the supervision of a certificated teacher. You will assist with learning and health care needs, including personal care and behavior support, in a special education setting.

The role emphasizes collaboration with staff, documentation, and safe, respectful interactions with students. Prior education requirements and ParaPro passage are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Option to hold AA degree or college credits as alternative.
• ParaPro Assessment passing is accepted.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with meeting IEP goals and keep accurate records.
• Prepare classroom and materials as directed.
• Assist students with washing, toileting, personal hygiene, and other care.
• Perform medical procedures under RN guidance such as medication administration and tube feeding.
• Lift and position medically fragile students safely.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, Adaptive PE, music, library, and in some classes.
• Develop positive rapport with students and staff.
• Report concerns to your supervisor to ensure student safety.
