Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools seeks a paraeducator for the Functional Core Program, working 1:1 with a student under a certificated teacher. The role includes assisting with functional life skills, health care tasks, and behavior support in various school settings.

You will support IEP goals, prepare instructional materials, and ensure safety while providing personal care and medical assistance as directed by licensed staff. This is a school-based, on-site position with regular hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• AA degree or 48 college credits or passing paraeducator assessment required.
• Proficient in basic spelling, math and grammar.
• Reading instruction experience or training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with meeting IEP goals and maintain records.
• Prepare classroom and materials as directed.
• Maintain clean and safe facilities.
• Assist students with personal care (toileting, hygiene).
• Perform medical procedures as directed by a nurse (medication administration, catheterization, tube feeding).
• Lift and position medically fragile students; assist with behavior plans.
• Supervise/assist during meals, recess, Adaptive PE, music, library, and general classroom settings.
• Assist students on and off the bus; promote safety.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

AA degree

High school diploma plus 48 college credits

High school diploma plus pass paraeducator assessment
