Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools is seeking a Paraeducator for the Functional Core Program to support students with identified disabilities in functional life skills. You will work under a certificated teacher to assist with instruction and health-related needs, including feeding, toileting, catheterization and mobility.

Qualifications

• IEPs knowledge and ability to support IEP goals.
• Strong English grammar and spelling.
• Solid basic math skills for daily tasks.
• Familiarity with positive behavior interventions.
• Knowledge of Right Response and de-escalation techniques.
• Understanding School Board Policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in meeting IEP goals and keep accurate records.
• Prepare classrooms and materials as directed.
• Maintain clean and safe facilities.
• Assist with personal care including feeding, toileting, and hygiene.
• Perform medical procedures per RN guidance such as medication administration and catheterization.
• Lift and position medically fragile students as needed.
• Support students with behavior plans and potential restraints as required.
• Supervise students at lunch, recess, PE, music, library, and in classrooms.
• Assist students on and off the bus.
• Build positive rapport with students and staff.
• Report questions or concerns to supervisor.
• Follow safety and security practices at all times.
