Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools is seeking a dedicated paraeducator to support students with disabilities in the functional life skills program. You will work under a certificated teacher, assist with learning goals, and provide essential personal care and health support as needed on a school day schedule.

Responsibilities include preparing materials, maintaining safety, assisting with feeding, toileting, and mobility, supporting behavior plans, and collaborating with staff to promote student success

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Optionally AA degree or 48/72 college credits or Pass the ParaPro Assessment.
• Proficient in basic spelling, math and grammar.
• Experience or training in reading instruction, remediation, and assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated teachers in meeting IEP goals and keep accurate records.
• Prepare classroom and materials as directed.
• Maintain clean and safe facilities.
• Assist students with personal care (toileting, washing, diapering) and health-related tasks.
• Perform medical procedures as directed by a registered nurse (medication administration, catheterization, suctioning, tube feeding).
• Lift and position medically fragile students; support students with behavioral needs per plans.
• Supervise students in meals, recreation, and various classrooms; assist with bus transitions.
• Develop rapport with students and staff; report concerns to supervisor.
