Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools seeks a dedicated Paraeducator to work 1:1 with a scholar in the Functional Core Program at Todd Beamer High School. The role supports students with disabilities under a certificated teacher's supervision, including health care tasks and learning activities.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, with options for additional coursework or an approved paraeducator assessment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• And one of the following: AA degree or 48 credits or 72 credits or pass the paraeducator assessment.
• Experience in reading instruction, remediation, and assessment preferred.
• Proficient in basic spelling, math and grammar.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with meeting IEP goals/objectives and keep accurate records.
• Prepare classroom and materials as directed.
• Keep the facilities clean and safe.
• Assist students with personal care activities (washing, toileting, etc.).
• Perform medical procedures as determined by a nurse (medication administration, catheterization, etc.).
• Lift and position medically fragile students as needed.
• Support behavior plans and safety procedures in the classroom.
