Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools is seeking a paraeducator to assist students with identified disabilities under a certificated teacher's direction. You will help with learning activities and essential personal care, including health-related tasks, while maintaining safety and supportive classroom environments.

Responsibilities include preparing materials, supporting behavior plans, and supervising students during meals, library, and community activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent or higher.
• AA degree or 48 college-level credits or 72 college-level credits or state paraeducator assessment required.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with meeting IEP goals under supervision of a certificated teacher.
• Prepare classroom and materials as directed.
• Keep facilities clean and safe.
• Assist students with personal care including washing, toileting, and diapering.
• Perform medical procedures as directed by a registered nurse (medication, catheterization, tube feeding).
• Lift and position medically fragile students as needed.
• Support safe student behavior and follow behavior plans when required.
• Supervise and assist students during meals, recess, Adaptive PE, music, library, and possible regular classroom activities.
• Assist students on and off the bus.
• Develop positive rapport with students and staff.
• Report concerns to the supervisor.
• Practice safety and security in daily routines.
