Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success, attend school regularly, and develop positive behaviors. You will plan individual progress and support teachers with class instruction and in-class student assistance.

We provide 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year. Roles include 1:1 and small-group work, extended programs, and recognition events for student growth.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching or mentoring students is helpful.
• Willingness to participate in AmeriCorps program and trainings.
• Ability to work with teachers and school staff.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academics, attendance and behavior.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress, support class instruction.
• Collaborate with teachers to support students and classroom activities.
• Assist with after-school programs, enrichment activities and clubs.
