Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members will coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive school behaviors. You will plan individual progress, work with teachers on class activities, and create engaging learning environments.

We provide 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year and ongoing support from partner teachers and school staff as you serve across elementary to high school levels.

Qualifications

• Coaching and mentoring students to improve academics and behavior.
• Plan and monitor student progress with teachers and staff.
• Help develop literacy and math skills across student levels.

Responsibilities

• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students: 1:1 and small groups, literacy and math activities, behavior management, interpersonal skills, data recording in City Year system, and creating a safe classroom space.
• Support Whole School initiatives to increase engagement with students and families: extended day and virtual programming, and events recognizing student growth in math, literacy, attendance and behavior.
