Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. You’ll work with teachers and schools to support individual student progress and classroom activities.

The role includes on-the-job training with 2–4 weeks at the start of the year, and opportunities to engage in school-wide initiatives and community service. No prior experience is required; a willingness to learn and help students is essential.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; training is provided at the start of the program.
• Interest in helping students succeed and building positive school environments.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations and school staff.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to achieve academic success and improve attendance.
• Plan and monitor progress for individual students and support classroom activities.
• Collaborate with teachers on student progress and in-class support.
• Support extended day and after-school programs and school-wide initiatives.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in partnership with teachers.
