Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and/or high school to help them earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor progress and work with teachers on in-class support, breakout spaces and student assistance.

Experience is not required; City Year provides 2–4 weeks of initial training, with a strong support network from partner teachers and school staff to guide you throughout the year.

Qualifications

• Entry-level AmeriCorps role; no prior experience required.
• 2–4 weeks of training provided at the start of the year.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 or in groups to support academic success.
• Collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction and student assistance.
• Help develop literacy and math skills through varied activities.
• Monitor and record student progress and participate in data reviews.

Education

GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
