Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school, helping them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and build positive behaviors. You’ll plan and monitor progress and work with teachers on in-class support.

No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training at the start, with ongoing coaching from partner teachers and school staff. This is an entry-level, full-time role with benefits and stipends.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching and mentoring students is not required but helpful.
• Ability to work with teachers and school staff to support student learning.
• Willingness to participate in training and school programs.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to improve academic skills.
• Develop literacy and math activities tailored to each student level.
• Create and implement behavior support plans with teachers.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress and participate in reviews of student data.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in partnership with the teacher.
