Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students, supporting teachers and strengthening classrooms. This entry-level, paid, full-time role focuses on improving academic success, attendance, and student behaviors across elementary to high school.

The program includes training, data collection, and collaboration with school staff to monitor progress and implement engaging learning activities, with benefits and a path toward further opportunities in education.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching or mentoring students is valued.
• Ability to support diverse learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math activities tailored to each student.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies.
• Monitor and record student progress and attendance data.
• Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction and interventions.
• Help maintain a safe, engaging classroom environment.
