Job summary

City Year offers an entry-level AmeriCorps Member role focused on student coaching and mentoring in schools. You will support academic success, attendance, and positive behavior while receiving 2–4 weeks of initial training.

You will work with teachers to deliver targeted supports, track progress in City Year’s data system, and contribute to school-wide initiatives that engage students and families. This is a paid, full-time AmeriCorps position.

Qualifications

• Be able to coach and mentor students in elementary, middle and/or high school.
• Participate in 2-4 weeks of training at the start of the year.
• Support teachers and school staff to implement in-class student assistance.

Responsibilities

• Coach identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math activities tailored to each student.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor and record student progress in City Year data system.
• Help plan and participate in school-wide initiatives and events to boost engagement.
