Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member roles focus on coaching and mentoring students to boost academic success and attendance. You will work with teachers to support classroom instruction and individualized student progress, providing training and ongoing collaboration throughout the service year.

As an entry-level, paid, full-time AmeriCorps member, you will engage in 2–4 weeks of initial training and collaborate with school staff to deliver comprehensive student support across multiple grades.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary. We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.
• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle and/or high school students to improve academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and work with teachers on in-class instruction and student support.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students in 1:1 or small group settings.
• Develop behavior management systems and foster positive classroom environments with teachers.
