Job summary

Pena4 Inc is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote, full-time W2 role. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and CCS certification is required; 3 years OP experience is preferred.

You will code inpatient and outpatient accounts using ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS CPT, and related references, aiming for accurate DRG assignments with a high level of production. Start date is immediate, and a coding assessment may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years IP PCS coding experience.
• CCS certification is required.
• At least 3 years OP coding experience preferred.
• Remote work: 100% remote.
• Start date: Immediate.
• Coding assessment/test required.

Responsibilities

• Examines the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Ensures correct sequencing of diagnoses and procedures with high accuracy.
• Aims for optimal DRG assignments with system assistance.
• Maintains steady productivity and coding quality.
• Holds accounts when more information is needed; consults staff as needed.
• Keeps current with coding guidelines; shares updates with team.
• Completes assignments as directed by management.
• Pursues continuing education and professional development.
• Works as a team member to achieve department goals.
• Performs related duties or special projects as assigned.
