Job summary

Pena4 Inc is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote, full-time role. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and a CCS credential, with optional OP exposure.

The position requires weekdays schedule and a regular day shift, starting immediately, with coding assessments as part of consideration. Proficiency with ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, CPT, and related coding references is essential to ensure accurate coding across inpatient and outpatient

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of inpatient IP PCS coding experience.
• CCS certificate is required.
• Prior outpatient coding experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Examine the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Accurately sequence diagnoses and procedures, maintaining 95% accuracy.
• Strive to obtain optimal DRG assignments with computer system support.
• Maintain steady productivity and coding quality.
• Hold accounts when more information is needed and contact staff as required.
• Stay updated with coding literature and revised guidelines.
• Complete all assignments as directed by management.
• Pursue continuing education opportunities.
• Collaborate with team to achieve department and client goals.
• Perform related duties or special projects as assigned.
