Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS) for 100% remote work. The role requires 5+ years of IP PCS coding experience and a CCS certification, with 3+ years of OP coding preferred.

A test will be required as part of the interview process. The coder will handle inpatient and outpatient accounts using ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS CPT, and other references, ensuring accurate coding and DRG assignments. Start date is immediate, with weekday, full-time hours.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience required.
• CCS certification required.
• At least 3 years OP coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examine the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and complications.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures to maintain high accuracy (target 95%).
• Strive to obtain optimal DRG assignments on each record.
• Maintain consistent productivity and quality levels.
• Escalate when more information is needed for accurate code/DRG assignment to the appropriate staff.
• Regularly review coding literature and stay current on guidelines, sharing knowledge with colleagues.
• Complete assignments as directed by management with reliability.
• Pursue continuing education opportunities.
• Collaborate as a team to meet department and client goals.
• Perform related duties or special projects as assigned.
