Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an experienced Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote, full-time role. The candidate must have at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and hold a CCS certificate.

An assessment test will be required as part of the application process, with immediate start available. The coder will work with ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS CPT, and other coding references to ensure precise coding and DRG assignments, while maintaining high accuracy and productivity.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of IP PCS Coding experience.
• CCS certificate is required.
• Remote work: 100% remote.
• Schedule is full-time hours.
• Start date: immediately.
• Coding assessment test required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Examine the complete medical record to determine principal & secondary diagnoses, procedures, and complications.
• Sequence diagnoses & procedures with high accuracy.
• Aim for optimal DRG assignments with computer system support.
• Maintain consistent performance, productivity, and quality.
• Escalate when more information is needed for accurate coding/DRG assignment.
• Regularly review coding literature and stay current with guidelines.
• Complete all assignments as directed by management.
• Pursue continuing education and collaborate with team to meet goals.
• Perform related duties or special projects as assigned.
