Job summary

Pena4 Inc is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote, full-time role. The candidate must have at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and CCS certification; outpatient coding experience is a plus.

A coding assessment test is required to be considered, with immediate start available. The coder will review records, assign accurate principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures, and strive for optimal DRG assignments with clinical accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of inpatient PCS coding experience.
• CCS certification is required.
• At least 3 years outpatient coding experience preferred.
• Remote, full-time W2 position.
• Coding assessment test required to be considered.

Responsibilities

• Examines the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and complications.
• Accurately sequences diagnoses and procedures, maintaining 95% accuracy.
• Strives to obtain optimal DRG assignments with computer assistance.
• Maintains steady productivity and coding quality.
• Holds accounts when more information is needed; contacts staff as needed.
• Reviews coding literature and stays current on guidelines, shares with colleagues.
• Completes assignments as directed by management.
• Pursues continuing education.
• Works as a team member to meet department and client goals.
• Performs related duties or special projects as assigned.
