Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students in elementary to high school settings. You will help improve academic success, attendance, and behaviors while planning progress and supporting classroom instruction.

Roles include 2–4 weeks of training, collaboration with teachers and staff, and participation in school-wide initiatives. This opportunity emphasizes growth, service, and positive community impact.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree.
• Ability to work with students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Willingness to complete AmeriCorps service year and background check.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to achieve academic success and improve attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers in class instruction.
• Create engaging, safe and healthy classroom spaces in collaboration with teachers.
• Develop interpersonal skills through learning activities and reflection.
• Collaborate with staff to collect and analyze student progress data.
