Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors in school environments. You will plan and monitor progress, collaborate with teachers on instruction and student support, and participate in whole-class and small-group activities.

The role includes 2–4 weeks of initial training and ongoing collaboration with partner teachers and staff to drive student growth and engagement across elementary, middle, and high

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location)

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to earn academic success, improve attendance and develop positive behaviors
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and work with teachers on in-class instruction and student support
• Support extended day and virtual programming for students before, during and after school including enrichment and interventions
