Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to boost academic success and attendance. You will plan progress, work with teachers on classroom support, and contribute to school-wide literacy and behavior initiatives. Training is provided at the start of the year to help you succeed.

You will be eligible for AmeriCorps benefits and will be joining City Year’s mission to empower students and communities across schools.

Qualifications

• Ability to coach and mentor students 1:1 and in groups.
• Willingness to participate in 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year.
• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; DACA ineligible at this time.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary to high school students to improve academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers on in-class support.
• Support and implement school-wide literacy, math, and behavioral initiatives.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in partnership with teachers.
