Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member is an entry-level, full-time role focused on coaching and mentoring students across grade levels to boost academic success, attendance, and behavior. You will partner with teachers to plan instruction, monitor progress, and contribute to in-class and after-school activities.

Training is provided for 2–4 weeks, with ongoing collaboration with school staff to create engaging, supportive learning environments that promote student growth and achievement.

Qualifications

• Be prepared to participate in 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year.
• Be able to work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Ability to develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary to high school students to improve academic outcomes.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers in class.
• Create and maintain a positive, safe classroom space in collaboration with educators.
• Support after-school and extended-day programs and student clubs.
