Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps Member is an entry-level, full-time, paid position focused on coaching and mentoring students in elementary to high school settings. Members plan and monitor individual progress, support teachers, and contribute to whole-class instruction and after-school programming.

Training is provided (2-4 weeks at year start). Members participate with teachers and staff, delivering literacy and math support, behavior management, and student engagement activities to promote academic

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Support literacy and math skill development with varied activities
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Collaborate with teachers and team members to monitor student progress
• Support school-wide engagement activities with students and families
• Participate in training and work with school staff throughout the year
