Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member role focusing on coaching and mentoring students across elementary to high school levels. You will plan and monitor individual progress, support classroom instruction, and collaborate with teachers to help students achieve academic success and positive school behaviors.

Role includes 2–4 weeks of initial training, ongoing supervision, and a committed team environment within City Year partners and schools.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching and mentoring students is not required; training provided at start of year.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic coaching and interpersonal development for students both 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support teachers with classroom activities, small-group work, and in-class student assistance.
• Help implement literacy and math activities tailored to student level and ensure task completion.
• Assist with behavior management and build interpersonal skills through daily practice and reflection.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to monitor student progress and participate in reviews of progress data.
