Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as tutors and mentors in schools, coaching students toward academic success, better attendance, and positive behavior. You will plan and monitor progress, and collaborate with teachers on in-class support.

This entry-level, paid, full-time role includes 2–4 weeks of training, a bi-weekly living stipend, and benefits like health insurance, student loan support, and opportunities for service-based scholarships.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; training provided.
• Ability to work with diverse students and staff.
• Comfort with data collection and progress monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor and record student progress.
• Support engagement with families through school activities.
