Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a Patient Service Assistant to act as the front-line contact in our practice. You will handle clerical tasks, answer calls, schedule appointments, register patients, verify insurance information and collect payments while coordinating with clinical staff and providers.

You will support a diverse patient population with kindness and professionalism, ensuring accurate demographic data and smooth patient flow across the front office.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of reading, writing, mathematical and computer skills.
• Keyboarding skills needed to register patients and other office tasks.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and office policies and procedures.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate with individuals and groups clearly.

Responsibilities

• Strives for excellent customer service. Greet customers and answer calls in a timely manner; identify needs and take required action.
• Verify and update patient information; verify insurance and ensure correct provider assignment.
• Accurately schedules patient appointments using multiple systems (EMR, practice management, insurance verification).
• Registers new patients and explains policies; collects emails for portal registration.
• Schedule future appointments, tests, referrals, and collect copayments; obtain authorizations as needed.
