Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper in Monticello, MN to deliver bookkeeping, payroll, and client service. You will post transactions, reconcile accounts, prepare payroll, and generate 1099s/W-2s while supporting client growth and retention.

Preferred qualifications include experience with Xero and a National bookkeeping certification, with a High School diploma as the basics. The role emphasizes accuracy, discretion, and independent work in a supportive franchise network.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications from the National Bookkeeping Association, or the ability to obtain certifications.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and generally accepted accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
