Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver accurate bookkeeping, payroll and client service. You’ll work within our franchise network, maintaining ledgers, reconciling accounts and preparing payroll with a focus on compliance and client trust.

You will generate 1099s and W2s, analyze financial statements, and communicate with clients, suppliers and banking contacts to support growth and retention opportunities.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and standard bookkeeping procedures.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications from the National Bookkeeping Association, or the ability to obtain certifications.
• Experience with Xero accounting software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
