Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a founding engineer for Compliance to surface automation opportunities in regulatory workflows such as transaction monitoring and sanctions screening. Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering in complex, stakeholder-heavy settings.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications.
• Experience embedding with non-technical domain experts.
• Familiarity with compliance/regulatory workflows and data handling.
• Knowledge of multi-agent orchestration and auditability considerations.

Responsibilities

• Embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to surface high-leverage automation opportunities.
• Prototype quickly using Coinbase's AI platform as baseline before building anew.
• Own the Compliance automation roadmap with leadership, translating regulatory workflows into engineering requirements.
• Define build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling, including internal build, partner integrations, or procurement.
• Ensure automated outputs are traceable, auditable, and compliant with regulatory standards.
• Drive adoption through internal sessions and feedback loops to ensure tool usage.
