Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a founding engineer in Compliance to embed with leadership and frontline teams, surfacing automation opportunities in transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory change management, and exam readiness.

You will prototype solutions on Coinbase's AI platform and help drive measurable adoption across Compliance. You will own the Compliance automation roadmap, translate complex regulatory workflows into engineering requirements, and shape the build-vs-buy

Qualifications

5+ years of software engineering experience in complex, stakeholder-heavy settings.
Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications with guardrails and human-in-the-loop.
Ability to translate regulatory workflows into engineering requirements.
Familiar with transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, auditing data handling.
Knowledge of multi-agent orchestration and build-vs-buy decisions in compliance tech.
Experience in a compliance-tech, RegTech, or financial services context.

Responsibilities

Embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to surface high-leverage automation opportunities.
Prototype quickly using Coinbase's AI platform as the default foundation.
Own the Compliance automation roadmap in partnership with leadership and translate workflows into specs.
Define the build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling and determine integration strategies.
Ensure outputs are auditable, defensible, and traceable for regulators.
Drive adoption through hands-on sessions and feedback loops with Compliance teams.
