Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a founding engineer within Compliance to embed with leadership and frontline teams, identifying automation opportunities across transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory change management, and exam readiness. You will prototype solutions on Coinbase's AI platform, drive adoption, and translate complex regulatory workflows into actionable engineering requirements.

You will own the Compliance automation roadmap, define build-vs-buy strategies, and ensure outputs

Qualifications

5+ years of software engineering experience delivering production systems in stakeholder-heavy environments.
Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications with prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and human-in-the-loop design.
Ability to internalize complex compliance workflows and translate them into engineering requirements.
Familiarity with transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory filing workflows, and audit-ready data handling.

Responsibilities

Embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to surface high-leverage automation opportunities.
Prototype quickly using Coinbase's AI platform as the baseline before net-new builds.
Own the Compliance automation roadmap in partnership with leadership and translate regulatory workflows into engineering requirements.
Define build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling and determine what to build, adopt, procure, or retire.
Ensure automated outputs are traceable, auditable, and defendable to regulators with proper controls.
Drive adoption through demos, walkthroughs, and feedback loops with Compliance teams.
