Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a founding engineer for Compliance, embedded with the Office of the CTO. You will surface automation opportunities in transaction monitoring and regulatory workflows, prototype on Coinbase's AI platform, and lead the compliance tooling roadmap with auditability and human-in-the-loop design.

You will collaborate with Compliance leadership and engineering to translate regulatory requirements into concrete engineering tasks, guiding build-vs-buy decisions and driving adoption

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering shipping production systems.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications and guardrails.
• Ability to embed with non-technical domain experts and translate workflows.
• Familiarity with transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and audit-ready data handling.
• Experience in embedded advisory roles in RegTech or financial services.

Responsibilities

• Embed with Compliance leadership to surface automation opportunities.
• Prototype using Coinbase AI platform and assess net-new builds.
• Own the Compliance automation roadmap with leadership.
• Define build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling.
• Ensure auditability and human-in-the-loop controls for outputs.
• Drive adoption through workshops and feedback loops.
