Coinbase is seeking a founding engineer for its Compliance AI platform, embedded within the Office of the CTO. You will surface high-value automation opportunities across transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and regulatory workflows, prototyping with the current AI platform and defining build-vs-buy decisions.

You’ll ensure auditability, human-in-the-loop controls, and measurable improvements in workflow efficiency while collaborating with Compliance leadership and engineering teams to

Qualifications

5+ years of software engineering in ambigious, stakeholder-heavy environments.
Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications with prompt engineering and guardrails.
Ability to translate regulatory workflows into engineering requirements.
Familiarity with transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and audit-ready data handling.

Responsibilities

Embed with Compliance leadership to surface high-leverage automation opportunities.
Prototype quickly using Coinbase's AI platform as baseline.
Own the Compliance automation roadmap with leadership; translate regulatory workflows into engineering constraints.
Define build-vs-buy strategies for Compliance tooling and ensure auditability and traceability.
