Position Overview: Fresh Foods Supervisor

The supervisor will oversee all activities of the deli/food service department, managing personnel to meet merchandising, sales, and customer service objectives. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of food service management experience, a passion for food, and a dedication to customer service.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Managing department staff, setting goals, and communicating with store management and supervisors.
2. Hiring, onboarding, and coaching new team members.
3. Scheduling staff shifts.
4. Engaging with customers through greetings, product information, suggestions, sampling, and thank-yous.
5. Handling customer orders, ensuring timely and satisfactory service.
6. Adhering to all food safety and sanitation regulations.
7. Ordering supplies and maintaining stock and merchandising standards.
8. Overseeing food preparation and merchandising of items like entrees, fried foods, pizzas, salads, soups, sandwiches, and beverages.
9. Displaying products according to company guidelines.
10. Following recipes accurately and rotating stock for quality and safety.
11. Receiving and auditing merchandise, managing inventory, and organizing storage areas.
12. Completing paperwork accurately and promptly.
13. Processing transactions, including cash handling and refunds.
14. Using scales and register equipment correctly.
15. Monitoring product pricing, signage, and placement.
16. Maintaining cleanliness and safety in all work areas.
17. Performing additional duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 18 years old.
• Minimum of 2 years in a food service management role, preferably in a fresh foods environment.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings, and to assist at other locations as needed.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
• Serv-Safe certification preferred.
• Passion for food and creativity.
• Professional and courteous demeanor.
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Basic math skills and familiarity with register and equipment operation.
• Ability to read labels, signage, and policies.
• Knowledge of deli ingredients and food safety practices.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs, work in coolers/freezers, and stand for long periods.
