Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Manager to oversee direct driver management for midsize fleets, ensuring safe, on-time freight movement and optimal load assignments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 2-3 years in transportation/logistics or equivalent military experience; ability to work across shifts including nights/weekends.
• Strong professional communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships.
• Experience delivering commitments to customers with open communication and feedback.
• Accurate information processing and informed decision making.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and travel to accounts as needed.
• Adaptability to dynamic environments and difficult conversations.
• Experience working under pressure in a safety-conscious setting.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safety to minimize turnover and maximize ongoing productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and work on special projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Train and orient drivers and staff on internal and customer systems.
• Analyze fleet operations, KPI data, and present customer-specific reporting and financial analysis.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment in market.
• Perform payroll, driver counseling, accident reviews, invoicing, and operational reporting.
• Manage yard operations and coordinate maintenance and safety fixes for equipment.
• Coordinate with drivers, customers, and personnel to resolve service issues and routing problems.
• Maintain safety culture with daily messages and training while ensuring DOT compliance.
• Assign loads, plan routes, monitor freight movements, and adjust ETAs as needed.
