Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. seeks a Transportation Manager II in Hatfield, MA to lead direct driver management, ensure safe and timely freight movement, assign loads, and uphold DOT compliance. You will work across day, night, and weekend shifts to meet coverage needs.

The role requires managing a midsize driver team, optimizing fleet operations, coordinating with customers and maintenance, and providing KPI reporting while maintaining a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 2-3 years in transportation/logistics or related fields.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Accurate information processing and data analysis.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Willingness to travel to account and customer locations.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and fast-paced environments.
• Ability to hold people accountable and conduct tough conversations.
• Demonstrated problem-solving under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with drivers and safety to minimize turnover.
• Cover for absent personnel and support fleet-optimization projects.
• Train drivers and staff on internal and customer systems.
• Analyze fleet operations and profitability; provide KPI reports.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Handle payroll, counseling, accident reviews, invoicing, and reporting.
• Oversee yard operations and coordinate preventive maintenance.
• Resolve service issues, routing, or pay-related problems as they arise.
• Uphold safety culture and ensure DOT compliance.
• Plan loads, routes, and monitor freight with ETA adjustments.
