Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. seeks a Transportation Manager II to lead driver management, ensure DOT compliance, and manage freight planning and delivery with strong customer service. The role requires multi-shift availability including days, nights, and weekends.

The successful candidate will oversee fleet operations, optimize profitability, and supervise payroll and reporting tasks while coordinating with internal and client teams. A GED or higher and relevant logistics experience are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2-3 years in transportation/logistics or equivalent military experience.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to analyze information with high accuracy and make informed decisions.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and safety teams to minimize turnover and maximize productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Train and orient drivers and employees, including systems support for internal and customer systems.
• Analyze fleet operations for profitability and suggest continuous improvements with KPI reporting.
• Manage assets, drivers, and routes to balance equipment and meet customer needs.
• Perform payroll, counseling, accident reviews, invoicing, and reporting tasks.
• Coordinate yard maintenance and ensure timely safety-related repairs and maintenance.
• Resolve service issues with drivers, customers, and company personnel as they arise.
• Plan loads, routes, and monitor freight to ensure safe, on-time delivery.
