Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair its diesel fleet, including tractors, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment. You will diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, and document work completed while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires basic computer skills, knowledge of diesel engines, and the ability to lift heavy components. ASE certifications and a Class A CDL are preferred; tools are expected to be provided by the

Qualifications

• Must have at least 1 year experience in vehicle maintenance or possess/complete an accredited vehicle maintenance certificate or FedEx Freight Apprentice Program.
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess the necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment.
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges, and tools used for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
• Familiarity with precision measurement instruments, lifting devices, and related equipment preferred.
• Able to lift components weighing ~110 pounds with assistance or equipment.
• Ability to operate vehicles with manual or automatic transmissions.
• Paint and body work experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts and other equipment.
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify issues and makes necessary adjustments.
• Works with other technicians on maintenance and repairs.
• Maintains proper documentation of maintenance in writing and electronically.
• Performs safety inspections and documents the work.
• Performs paint and body work on vehicles as required.
• Complies with all laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Performs other duties as required.
