Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Mechanic / Technician to maintain and repair our diesel fleet, including tractors, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment. You will apply heavy equipment experience or diesel mechanic education to keep equipment safe and reliable.

This role offers ASE certification opportunities, tool allowances, and advancement with FedEx. Daily work includes diagnostics, preventive maintenance, documentation, and collaboration with other technicians.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or GED) preferred.
• One year experience in vehicle maintenance or completion of FedEx Freight Apprentice Program.
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess necessary tools to perform tasks.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment.
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and diagnostic tools.
• Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
• Able to lift components weighing approx 110 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to operate vehicles with manual and automatic transmission.
• Paint and body work experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently or as a team member.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify trouble sources and adjustments.
• Collaborates with technicians on maintenance and repairs.
• Ensures proper documentation of maintenance; completes reports.
• Performs safety inspections and documents the work.
• Performs paint and body work on vehicles as required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
