Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Field Technician II to maintain and restore network services across assigned areas. You will start from a home base in a company-provided vehicle and travel to multiple network sites within your territory, building technical expertise and paving the way for career growth.

The role focuses on outages, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and hands-on support at remote sites to ensure network reliability and customer service continuity across territories.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant telecommunications, network infrastructure, or field technical experience.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing network equipment.
• Knowledge of fiber optic networks.
• Experience performing OTDR testing and network diagnostics.
• Ability to work independently across multiple field locations.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license with the ability to operate a company vehicle and travel throughout assigned territories.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours service issues.

Responsibilities

• Respond to network outages and service restoration activities to maintain service availability.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain telecommunications and network infrastructure equipment.
• Perform OTDR and other network testing activities to identify and resolve service issues.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on network facilities and supporting infrastructure.
• Provide smart hands support at remote network sites.
• Maintain site equipment, including HVAC systems, generators, and related infrastructure.
• Accurately document work activities and utilize Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook and Teams, for communication and administrative tasks.
• Support overall network reliability, uptime, and customer service continuity across assigned territories.
