Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Field Technician II to maintain and restore network services across assigned territories. This field-based role starts from a home base in a company vehicle and travels to multiple network sites.

It offers growth potential while building technical expertise in telecommunications infrastructure. The position requires troubleshooting and repair of network equipment, OTDR testing, and preventive maintenance, with on-call rotation and travel across territories.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 2 years in telecom, network infrastructure, or field tech roles.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing network equipment.
• Knowledge of fiber optic networks.
• Experience performing OTDR testing and diagnostics.
• Ability to work independently across multiple field locations.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel in territory.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Respond to outages and restore service to maintain availability.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain telecom and network equipment.
• Perform OTDR and other testing to identify issues.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on network facilities.
• Provide smart hands support at remote sites.
• Maintain site equipment including HVAC and generators.
• Document activities; use Outlook/Teams for communication.
• Support network reliability and customer service across territories.
